This section will hopefully address most questions and concerns, however if there's anything we haven't covered please don't hesitate to call and speak with one of our helpful friendly staff members.
We hear the gym used to be a porn theatre, did you sanitize the place?
While we like to pay homage to our building's former use (as you’ll notice through some of our route names) all other remnants have been thoroughly, extensively, and immaculately cleaned.
Do you have bouldering?
Well, given the facility’s previous usages, we felt that ropes, knots and harnesses would be in better keeping with its heritage. In all seriousness though, we do have a small bouldering wall up on our mezzanine with more than a dozen hot and tasty problems ranging from V0 to V8 that change up every 2 weeks, as well as having big plans for a full bouldering area, which is first on our priority list for our second phase of expansion. Also, if you are into playing solo, we have 5 auto-belays allowing you access to 10 full height routes as the lone wolf that we all sometimes long to be.
Are kids allowed to come climbing?
Of course! At Basecamp we understand that climbing can be an instinctive technique for kids, and we will be providing a safe fun environment for the young ones to quench their urge to climb (instead of all over the walls and furniture in your house). We even have some weekend drop in programs for that post-breakfast sugar high. Drop them off with one of our incredible staff members, and enjoy a few hours of brunch, shopping, or even just sitting and enjoying the sweet sweet peace and quiet.
Er, that’s not a question. If you’re looking for places to have a pre or post climb meal however, you’re in luck! We’re connected to a cafe! We highly recommend hitting up our friends at Black Rock Coffee before and/or after a climb (we’re obviously biased), but there’s also a ton of options just steps from us in every direction. We are in the thick of it all: Tacos, Pad Thai, Dumplings, Sandwiches, and Pork Bone Soup are all just a stone's throw from our front door. Ask one of our food aficionado staff members for a recommendation!
Are you guys still hiring?
If you’d like to work with Basecamp in the future we’ll always be accepting resumes so feel free to send yours (with a brief cover letter) to firstname.lastname@example.org
What are your hours? Will I be able to come in for an early morning climb?
Most days of the week we open at 10am and close at 11pm (Sundays we close at 10pm), but for all of you eager beaver early birds (beaver-birds?) we open our doors at the wee morning hour of 6am on Tuesdays and Thursdays to help you start your day off right.
If I come in for a pre-work climb, will I have to book it into work covered in chalk and still smelling like climbing shoes and desperation?
Don’t worry, we have your post-climb needs covered! Our facilities include showers and change rooms, and our friends and neighbours at Black Rock Coffee will cover your morning snacks and caffeine boosts.
I love the convenience of being able to ride the subway to your gym, but what about my car toting friends?
Thank you perfect happy customer, we’re so glad to hear that! If your friends do have a car we actually have plenty of options for them. While the parking lot in the back is strictly for PAT customers only, there are three green P parking lots just across the street at Clinton, Manning, and Palmerston. PS. While we love our new neighbours, they are (rightly) very strict about the parking enforcement in the their lot, so please do all of us a favour and respect their space. Additionally all of the surrounding streets are “1 hour” parking, so if you’re coming for a short session or don’t mind rolling the car forward every hour or so then you’ll have an endless amount of spots to choose from.
