Learn to Climb Outdoors

Basecamp is once again offering our unique Gym to Crag Transitional Programming, designed to provide you with the fundamentals needed to transition your climbing skills outdoors. This 3 part course (3 x 2.5 hours) is designed for experienced lead climbers ready to make the transition outdoors. The course will cover such topics as Crag Etiquette, Anchor Building, Rappelling and much more. We require a minimum amount of climbing and belaying experience to register for the course. All potential participants must undergo an Advanced Lead Skills test before registration can be completed. This can be completed during most days between 10am to 9pm.

Participants also need a minimum amount of personal gear, all of which is listed below.

Basics:

6 months leading (if 2 or 3 sessions per week)

1 year leading (if 1 or 2 sessions per week)

Up to 4 people

Must be within 50lbs of other climbers

3 sessions at 2.5 hours each

Participants will be required to pass a lead test before the classes can begin

40m rope

Grigri

ATC

4 Locking Carabiners

1m of 6mm Cordelette (For Friction Knots)

PAS (Not a Daisy Chain!)

60cm sling

2 Nonlocking Carabiners (1 Straight 1 Bent)

Mallion

8 QuickDraws (12 Recommended)
